We have began our Junior Veterinarian sessions. So far we have discussed what "domestic" means, pet first aid, and pet nutrition. Tomorrow we plan to visit the local Animal Clinic with Dr. Vaughan.
After discussing pet first aid, we made our very own pet first aid kit for our classroom pets (stuff animals :) ). The kids labeled bottles from what we had discussed during the lessons and we placed in all in a box. We have bitter apple spray, itch spray, dog shampoo, saline solution, hydrogen peroxide, cotton balls, & latex gloves to name a few. :)
We also discussed dog nutrition and how important it can be to have a balanced diet. WE also discussed that animals should not eat human food since we may add different spices and seasoning to our food & this can make an animal sick. After our discussion we made our own "doggie biscuits" for people.
Just for fun, we made some mini hot "dogs"..... These were suppose to be with the fabulous Sister Schubert sausage rolls, but we unfortunately were unable to get those. So we had to settle with crescent rolls & essentially made pigs in a blanket...but shhhh, don't tell them that.
