First Day Activities

The first few pics is of us coloring watermelons for our "One in a melon" bulletin board.
Our first day lesson was on "Pop Art" and primary & secondary colors.
Pop art is an art movement that emerged in the mid-1950s in Britain and in the late 1950s in the United States. Pop art presented a challenge to traditions of fine art by including imagery from popular culture such as advertising, news, etc.
We drew a heart and used primary water colors to paint the inside. We painted the outside with secondary water colors. We then spritzed clean, clear water to make all the colors run together to create new colors.
